HELIOS Side Mount Short TECH The Helios Sidemount Short Tech is a specialized variant of Helios's standard technical cargo shorts, explicitly engineered to address the equipment alignment challenges faced by sidemount scuba divers. Unlike traditional tech shorts whose side pockets can collide with or get pinned down by hip-mounted cylinders, this specialized apparel optimizes geometry to allow smooth access to emergency and utility tools. Sidemount-Specific Engineering Updates • Anti-Interference Pocket Placement: The primary left and right cargo pockets are shifted backward by approximately one-third (1/3) towards the glutes/hips. This critical repositioning ensures that sidemount cylinders rest cleanly against the diver's flanks without compressing or blocking access to the pocket flaps. • Streamlined Profile: The overall leg inseam length has been trimmed shorter, and the main cargo pockets are elevated higher up the thigh. This keeps accessories packed tightly to the core, minimizing hydrodynamic drag. • Front Zippered Compartments: Integrated specialized front-facing zippered pockets allow quick storage and extraction of flat, compact accessories (such as directional markers, line arrows, or slates) without reaching into the main lateral pockets
